September birds in Cape May

As I promised in my last post, I now will share some of my first, decent pics digiscoped with a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Leica APO-Televid 65, using a PhoneSkope adapter in between...at least I'm pretty satisfied with them until I get better used to the setup, so please be gentle if you comment. :)

A mega-rarity (possibly THE mega of the whole season!) was this Whiskered Tern, only the 3rd  North American record, found on Friday, Sep. 12, 2014! (Cape May Point State Park beach, Sep. 13, 2014)

Killdeer preening its tail (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 6, 2014)

Lesser Black-backed Gull (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 9, 2014). White spot in center of larger red spot looks interesting.

This Northern Pintail was the first of the Fall for me. (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 10, 2014)

Trio of Stilt Sandpipers. (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 9, 2014)

young Double-crested Cormorant (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 5, 2014)

Lesser Yellowlegs
White-rumped Sandpiper (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 5, 2014).

Find the Pectoral and Stilt Sandpipers (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 5, 2014).

Short-billed Dowitcher, all ruffled up! (South Cape May Meadows, Sep. 5, 2014)

Short-billed Dowitcher "swimming" (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014).
Least Sandpiper (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014).

Good numbers of Blue-winged Teal are moving through Cape May right now. Here are a few of the group of 8 (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014)

Green Heron (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014)

Green Heron with an itch (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014)

juvenile Little Blue Heron, with typical outstretched, downward-looking foraging stance. (Cape May Point State Park, Sep. 3, 2014)
